Reverie of Her King

He told her that her skin was the color of caramel
The Kind he savored and cherished as a child
the Sweet treats given as rewards after Sunday Mass
He confessed that the sway of her hips held him captive
The song in his silence that he would forever seek.
He told her bedtime stories
no matter of the time
in between their inextinguishable
carnal-soul-ceremonies.
He sung to her in his native Latin tongue
His lips a feast for her insatiable hunger
She would have never known her goddess self
Had he not awakened her gypsy-siren-soul
He revealed her mysterious reflection
Moon Goddess
Sun King
Eclipse
He said she was his sacred altar
The place where he came
To worship God
To remember & forget.
He said she was his Queen
Whose radiant presence he would kneel before
And she, before him, indeed.
How they worshiped one another
In the garden of their love
They might have starved to death
Upon each other’s shore
An Island worlds away.
At times they forgot to breathe,
Were it not for the flood of air required
Between their eternal kisses.
Ceasing for a second
Gasping for breath
To sustain them for many more everlasting days and nights
That bled into each other in crimson soul-fire.
He called her, "Hechicera"
He swore she cast a spell on him
She swore he was her wizard
With magic in his hands.
They beheld only light
And cast it brilliantly upon each other
The blinding illumination of their passion
Flames that kept them alive
And endlessly ignited.
Their demons at first asleep
Lulled by the hypnotic rhythm of their bliss
Though as ecstasy sunk below their horizon
The demons broke free of love’s spell
Creeping into this Heavenly kingdom
Through hidden corridors from within
The endless battles began
Exhaustion was setting in
This Sweet Queen and her Sun King
Became weary and afraid
Separated in the shadows
Beyond each other’s gaze
They reached, and spun and flailed and sunk
It was the beginning of their dying days
This King, he fled
The Queen, she hid
The demons pursued her lord.
She dreams of him in silent retreat
She longs for him forever more.
Sometimes she emerges
from the deep
To pray in open spaces in the light
Where they worshiped and communed
where their very soul's took flight.
She can feel him there from far within
She knows he’s fighting their demons
Somewhere out there
She prays for his return
His absence, an immeasurable chasm
That seems to swallow and devour her faith
Though she knows their love spans life times
Each moment without him an eternity too long to wait.
As deep and vast as was his love
Is as abysmal as this time apart…
She surrenders and accepts
For what is....
She cannot seem to change
But wherever her King does wander
She blesses him -
She feels his rage
Her magic touches him in the ethers
And blesses him in his heart
One day they may reunite
For every end begets a brand new start.
